Louis Vuitton Names Virgil Abloh as Its New Men’s Wear Designer

Heute Vormittag verkündete Louis Vuitton mit sofortiger Wirkung, dass Off-White Chefdesigner Virgil Abloh die kreative Leitung für die Herrenkollektion des französischen Luxuslabels übernimmt. Die erste Show wird während der kommenden Men’s Fashion Week in Paris stattfinden. “Having followed with great interest Virgil’s ascent since he worked with me at Fendi in 2006, I am thrilled to see how his innate creativity and disruptive approach have made him so relevant, not just in the world of fashion but in popular culture today. His sensibility towards luxury and savoir-faire will be instrumental in taking Louis Vuitton’s menswear into the future”, sagt Michael Burke, Chairman und CEO von Louis Vuitton. Abloh rückt damit für Kim Jones nach, der im Januar nach sieben Jahren als Kreativchef der Herrenkollektion seinen Rücktritt verkündet hatte und die Leitung bei Dior Homme übernahm. “It is an honor for me to accept the position of Men’s Artistic Director for Louis Vuitton. I find the heritage and creative integrity of the House are key inspirations and will look to reference them both while drawing parallels to modern times”, erklärt Virgil Abloh.

Martha Louisa – the new onlineshop for shoes

Launching today, MarthaLouisa.com is the new shopping destination for all shoe shoppers. Not only is it the only luxury site dedicated to footwear, it is the only e- commerce site that focuses on one specific category. Three years after selling the hugely successful MyTheresa.com to the Neiman Marcus Group, Susanne and Christoph Botschen realised a gap in the market for a dedicated luxury footwear platform. “Now is the time for a specialist supplier to have their space online,” they said.

The product range includes footwear from Saint Laurent, Prada and Gucci, alongside contemporary labels such as Alevi, Trademark and Le Monde Beryl. Martha-Louisa.com is bringing many of its brands to the online multi-brand sphere for the very first time. Exclusive collaborations are soon to be published.

To introduce the new onlineshop to the press, Martha Louisa threw a launch party during Paris Fashionweek at Le Crillon at Place de la Concorde.

Last Saturday, Natalie Kingham, Buying Director at matchesfashion.com, together with Sarah Harris, Fashion Director at British Vogue, and New York label Bienen-Davis hosted an exclusive dinner in Caviar Kaspia in ParisThe traditional brand, founded in 1931, stands for iconic bags with timeless silhouettes and luxurious materials.

Guests like Meredith German, Ada Kokosar, Sophie Goodwin, and many more came together over king crab, the finest caviar, and Kaspia champagne. Here a few more impressions from the evening:
