Pre-launch: x Valentino pre-launches a selection of Valentino’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection with a dedicated music video featuring “Species” by Eliot Sumner

With an exclusive music video featuring Eliot Sumner’s song “Species”, – the luxury online retailer – exclusively pre-launches, prior to the official launch, a selection of the Valentino Fall/Winter 2017 runway collection. The artistic and very special fashion & music short film follows different protagonists, all dressed in the Valentino Fall/Winter 2017 collection, out in the streets of London, creating an urban feel by interacting with the city.

The featured song “Species” by English singer and songwriter Eliot Sumner, the daughter of musician Sting and actress Trudie Styler, is taking the lead through the film with its clear and expressive lyrics. “It’s about how we’re evolving into this new species where things can be totally genderless and unidentifiable,” said Sumner, who began writing songs at the age of 15 and was pushing for a futuristic and genre-defying song, whose most important topic is diversity.

The project was directed by Swedish film director Joanna Nordahl, for whom “the fashion scene is another branch of the art world to be inspired by.” Commenting on this collaboration with and Valentino, she said “I really love this whole ‘creating something from scratch’ concept. To see your vision go from dream to potential to reality actually is a very special thing.” The creative concept was explored by Rem Ruini e Mario studios and credit for the shoppable video goes to Smartzer.
