Louis Vuitton opened the Volez, Voguez, Voyagez exhibition in New York, which will remain in the city until January 2018
Louis Vuitton’s traveling exhibition Volez, Voguez, Voyagez has been making stopovers in various cities around the world since 2015: It started in Paris, followed by Tokyo in 2016, and Seoul this past summer. As of the end of October, the exhibition has now arrived in New York and will be on show until January 7th, 2018.
The history of the French heritage company is traced over a total of three floors of the American Stock Exchange building with the aid of iconic designs and products. Every important period from the time the company was founded in 1854 until the present day is told over ten chapters, four of which are dedicated exclusively to the most iconic trunks, for example. An important chapter takes place entirely in the USA: Georges Vuitton, the founder’s son, first showed the company’s products in America at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair and finally sold them in New York and Philadelphia starting in 1898. Among the brand’s early loyal customers were well-known names like Lauren Bacall, Ernest Hemingway, and F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Collaborations with american artists such as Stephen Sprouse or Jeff Koons, who has already created two collections for the brand, added another milestone to the relations between Louis Vuitton and the United States of America.
This thematic journey through time was conceived and designed by Robert Carsen and curated by Olivier Saillard. In addition to objects and documents from the Louis Vuitton archives, a selection of objects on loan from the Palais Galliera, the Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris, and private collectors can also be seen.
Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of LVMH, and Michael Burke, chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton, as well as Alicia Vikander, Jennifer Connelly, Michelle Williams, and Léa Seydoux were among those present at the opening.
