Made possible by Dior: The Guggenheim International Gala in New York City took place for the fourth time

As one of the most iconic and avant-garde haute couture labels around, the house of Dior has always had a close bond to the art world. Whether with its founder Christian Dior or his manifold successors, whose creations have kept the spirit of the traditional house alive for decades on. Thus it is only fitting that the prestigious Guggenheim International Gala, was presented by Dior for the fourth time in a row.

The event took place in New York last week, starting off with a pre-party at Manhattan’s Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum on 16th November. For the Young Collector’s Council, the fashion and culture A-List gathered at the forum of the building, which was lit in bright red lights. They were greeted with a live performance by singer Banks accompanied by a DJ set by Nancy Whang. Among the numerous guests and possibly part of the dancing crowd: stars by the likes of Marion Cotillard, Sidney Toledano, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Alexa Chung.

The following day, a dinner party took place on the spot, to celebrate the works of late painter Agnes Martin, as well as contemporary artists such as Tauba Auerbach, Tacita Dean, Sarah Morris and Laurie Simmons. Perfectly in line with the artistic theme, the interior was decorated opulently: the white round tables were set with a metallic flower installation and from above, the ground floor looked like a giant bouquets of daisies. The fundraiser was attended by Jim Jarmusch, Karlie Kloss, Anne Hathaway just to name a few; and Jazz composer John Zorn set just the right tone for the elegant event, while debuting his work “Praise”, that was inspired by the unrivalled Agnes Martin.

On 1st and 2nd December John Zorn’s musical performance piece will be open for public, at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
