Millennial pink is the color of the moment: fashion editor Oriane on the phenomenon you’ll see from Acne Studios to Gucci

I used to hate pink, Barbies included…my sister never did forgive me for decapitating her favorite doll. But times change and as I grow older I become more and more obsessed with a color formerly reserved for young girls. Even though Juergen Teller photographed Kate Moss lying in bed with pink hair back in 1998, it still took me some time to accept this color – and to love it.

Acne Studios was probably one of the first to change my mind. That was 10 years ago when the label was adopting its now globally recognizable packaging. And then followed by Gucci and the extravagant and highly desirable total pink looks for Resort 2017.

And it’s not just fashion that has embraced this vibrant color: Genius architect and designer India Mahdavi – the woman behind the interior design at Sketch in London, Ladurée in Geneva, the RED Valentino boutique in Rome, and the fresh new look of KaDeWe in Berlin – decided that a touch of the color just isn’t enough. She’s made it clear that grey couches are completely out-of-date, and seeing the end result I can’t help but find myself thinking: “But why are the walls of my apartment still white?!”

No doubt je vois la vie en rose (but “Millennial pink” only please!)

French and Swiss, Oriane moved to Berlin to pursue her interest in all things creative. She loves art and photography and does a lot of yoga, also to balance out her passion for great cuisine - a real foodie so to say. And of course, she is obsessed with fashion, which you can tell from her weakness for peplum cuts and ruffles. At hey woman! Oriane is responsible for shooting, producing and styling as well as editing and collage design.
