Shopping List: Sunny Getaway

Chloé, Valentino, and Gucci are all packed into our fashion editor Oriane’s sunny getaway suitcase

“Four pairs of shoes for four days? Really?” That’s what my boyfriend said last week before our little getaway to the north of Mallorca.

A suitcase headed for a summery destination should be the lightest and easiest to pack, but for me it is a far bigger struggle since I own far more sandals, skirts, and bikinis than I do sweaters, scarves, and coats – which is of course a very practical thing when you live in a city like Berlin

I usually wake up knowing exactly what I want to wear – a proper gift that allows me to stay in bed in the mornings, or to have a long breakfast before going to the office. When traveling, however, it becomes a little bit trickier: “And what if i feel like wearing these beige suede sandals or these red pumps and I don’t have them with me?” I replied. Better safe than sorry. I’d rather pack too much than not enough, and below you will find all the things I wish I could have taken with me for this long weekend trip.

During the day I would have gone out exploring and gotten an ice cream wearing, for instance, a canotier hat by Maison Michel, a white Chloé top combined with Valentino jean shorts, and mules by N°21. For a walk to the harbour, a Saloni white dress pulled tight around the waist by a Vita Kin ethnic belt, Annie Costello Brown earrings, and Álvaro sandals on my feet. Two very comfortable and elegant options.

For the evening, I would have surely opted for this magnificent, vibrant yellow Gucci one-shoulder dress with a pair of Oscar de la Renta green earrings and Jimmy Choo platform shoes, or combined this beautiful Rochas skirt with pom-pom slippers by Aquazzura.

And of course I’d carry one pair – or maybe two, in case I change my mind! – of my favorite sunglasses, my book (The Course of Love by Alain de Botton), and my lipstick (So Chaud by M.A.C) in a Rosie Assoulin bag inspired by an amphora, or my latest obsession: this vintage look version of the Cahier Bag by Prada.

French and Swiss, Oriane moved to Berlin to pursue her interest in all things creative. She loves art and photography and does a lot of yoga, also to balance out her passion for great cuisine - a real foodie so to say. And of course, she is obsessed with fashion, which you can tell from her weakness for peplum cuts and ruffles. At hey woman! Oriane is responsible for shooting, producing and styling as well as editing and collage design.
