Lookbook: Céline Resort 2018

With the 2018 Resort Collection, Céline offers the typical complete package: Familiar silhouettes paired with a few familiar faces – Binx Walton and Selena Forrest

Delicate and austere, dark and colorful, masculine and feminine – these are the powerful contrasts that fuel French favorite Céline. Phoebe Philo lets her models pose between the contrasts for her Resort 2018 line. And so you’ll find the much sought-after Binx Walton (@binxwalton) and Selena Forrest (@selenaforrest) sitting, performing gymnastics, or standing in a Mediterranean summer garden or simply in front of a white cloth background.

A total of 26 looks show everything that you ever wanted from Céline: a simple suit or a black wool blazer cinched in at the waist, a delicate slip dress, and finally the most gorgeous trench coat. The 26 looks present their most expressionistic side – patterns and colors range from mottled blue and white batik designs to turtleneck tops with comics on them (witty). And the glasses with tinted, yellow lenses are also a fine thing. Favorite picture: The close-up of the legs of the model wearing wide-leg jeans and black sandals – a discreet hint that Céline will be launching its denim line soon.

The collection was already presented back in July during the couture shows. Phoebe Philo has been showing her Resort designs to a select audience during this time period for the last four years – in the strictest confidence, of course. The lookbook that goes with it remains under lock and key until the pieces go on sale. But now the beautiful photos have been released, and for the last few days have finally been available to an adoring public. The spring campaign was unveiled at the same time, which was shot by star photographer Juergen Teller.

With these beautiful designs and photographs, let us close our eyes and ears to Phoebe Philo’s rumored departure from Céline. A few weeks ago, Business of Fashion suggested that a change could be imminent. But, we’ll suppress those thoughts for the time being.
