The “Big Bag” from Céline is Veronika’s Editor’s Pick of the day – a simple but elegant handbag for every occasion
After what feels like ages following a “bag rule” that I set for myself called “no-name-basket or luxury-in-miniature,” I’m breaking it.
For me, it felt just as unexpected as it did for all the “Céline disciples” when the Instagram account was launched last March – against all expectations and fed with a close-up of bangers and mash, no less. It was real added value against the otherwise rather monotonous social media world of the big brands that’s so calibrated for “likes” and, of course, sales.
But speaking of things that are big: back to the topic of this Editor’s Pick. It’s nothing new that Phoebe Philo knows what bags we’ll want to be carrying tomorrow. Or that she’s been pushing bigger and bigger versions over the last few years. No one, however, could personally dissuade me from my €34 farmer’s market straw basket because I always switched over to small, feminine, and playful bags.
Now, it finally happened – with the Big Bag, everything is different! That’s because, like my basket, it has space for that third sweater option, my riding helmet, plus carrots and any number of rechargeable batteries, cables, extra pens, lip balm, and chewing gum. By the same token, it manages all of that without attracting attention – like the basket. But the most convincing argument for me: It still looks opulent while doing it. And more so with every day.
