Chanel has three new beauty treats in store for us. Our beauty editor Anna takes a closer look at the products

When talking about those so-called “must-have items,” the name Chanel comes up quickly. The keyword: Handbag. Or maybe the slingback pumps, which had incredibly long waiting lists last summer.

La Crème Main

Now the latest object of desire by Chanel to come along is completely different because it is – ta-da! – a hand cream. If at this point you’re asking yourself why women are flipping out about a hand cream, you should take a closer look at the perfect design of Chanel’s La Crème Main: There’s no classic jar or tube with a despicable screw top here, but rather a minimalistic, oval casing that lies incomprehensibly well in the hand – similar to a stone worn smooth by the sea. By the way, Chanel has a long tradition with hand creams: Coco Chanel developed the first care products back in 1927.

Aside from its appearance, Chanel’s La Crème Main also makes a convincing show of its ingredients: May rose wax and shea butter nourish rough hands to smooth softness while iris extract has a brightening effect and glycerin and hyaluronic acid lock moisture into the skin. Another plus: The cream is rich, but absorbs quickly.

Le Lift Flash Eye Revitalizer

If your hands are well cared for, best move on to the next delicate area: the skin around your eyes. Chanel developed the new two-step Le Lift Flash Eye Revitalizer system for this sensitive area: First you apply a roll-on serum enriched with active anti-aging ingredients and vitamins that returns elasticity and vitality to the skin while reducing swelling. Next, you apply hydrogel-soaked patches to the under eye area and relax for 10 minutes. An Instagram photo with the fancy logo patches would, of course, also be a fabulous idea.

Neapolis Chanel Spring/Summer 2018

What follows after skin care is, of course, makeup. And specifically, Neapolis, Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2018 makeup line. Chanel Global Creative Color and Makeup Designer Lucia Pica was inspired by her hometown of Naples, where the launch party also took place last week at picturesque Villa Lauro. Very luminous and color-intense – those are my first thoughts about the new collection, which is made up of green, yellow, gold, red, and black tones. My favorites include the blush in the shade Foschia Rosa, which is like the evening sun in Naples resting on your cheeks! Your black mascara will also have to make room for Nero Vulcanico, a deep green-blue mascara inspired by the volcanic ash of Mount Vesuvius. And the Poudre à Lèvres lip pigments, which are based on the colors and traditional tempera technique of Pompeii frescos, also sound very promising. The makeup line will be available in the US in December 2017.
