Botanical Beauty: Natural Cosmetic Favorites

Natural cosmetics with plant extracts for beautiful, radiant skin – Beauty Editor Julia Alfert shares her favorites

The healing and nourishing properties of plants have been known for thousands of years. Effects and uses have always been carefully studied, documented, and developed and therefore brought into the present day. In cosmetics, herbal extracts are currently enjoying a surge in popularity. Especially with me!

These are my botanical beauty favorites:

Active Botanical Serum by Vintner’s Daughter

Vintner’s Daughter

Active Botanical Serum, € 200 via Niche Beauty

Some time ago, I discovered and shared their fantastic face oil. Since then, I regularly delight in the little bottle in my bathroom cabinet. When my skin needs extra care and I need an aroma trip to the herb garden of my mind, I use a few drops of oil with dandelion, lavender, and other herbs for a facial massage.

Botanical Cream Deodorant by Aurelia Probiotic Skincare

Aurelia Probiotic Skincare

Cream Deodorant, € 25,00 via Niche Beauty

I often try new aluminum-free deodorants. When they are also organic, I am even happier to test them. Some work, but many do not. The Botanical Cream Deodorant by Aurelia belongs in the first category. The deodorant cream becomes a powder when it comes in contact with the skin. Finely powdered plant substances have an antibacterial effect, keeping the skin dry and absorbing unpleasant odors. They also care for the skin under your armpits, which can be irritated by shaving. Eucalyptus, tea tree, and peppermint essential oils create the fresh scent.

Replenishing Overnight Face Oil by Night Delight Organics

Night Delight

Overnight Face Oil, € 99,00 via Green Glam

The wonderful product line from Night Delight Organics has a lot to offer enough that at first, it was difficult to limit our test to just one product. But the Overnight Face Oil really spoke to me. With rose, rosehip, and bergamot oils, it is rich without feeling heavy. It is quickly absorbed, offers intensive care, and gives off a soothing scent. In the evening, I apply two to three drops onto clean skin. I find that a nightly ritual with a soothing, luxurious skincare product can make up for quite a lot of stress that builds up during the day.

Flawless Skin Nourishing Oil by Modern Natural

Modern Natural

Nourishing Oil, € 134.10 via Free People

This facial oil, in its white glass bottle with pipette cap and botanic mandala print, is not just beautiful to look at, it is also a very special skincare product. Unlike many of the facial oils that I normally use, it is almost completely odorless. Fragrant essential oils are great in many ways, but they can also irritate the skin. With Flawless Skin Oil, I have the feeling that my skin can really soak it up. In no time, the oil is absorbed and evens out impurities and dry spots all without the slightest bit of irritation. From now on, this product comes to the rescue when my skin is tired or over-treated and needs some pampering.

Facial Beauty Elixir by Merme

Facial Elixir, € 29.00 via Merme

One ingredient, big effect. Rosehip oil is rich in antioxidants, vitamins A, C, and E, and Omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids. The natural-smelling oil is a dry oil, meaning it is quickly absorbed by the skin without leaving greasy residue.

Perk: Because the Facial Beauty Elixir consists of pure, cold-pressed organic rosehip oil, you know how the skin will respond to this special ingredient after application. With reduced products like this, you can gradually learn how it works and what you can handle.

Skin Rescue – Blue Tansy & Evening Primrose Problem Skin Oil by Lovely Day

Lovely Day Botanicals

Skin Oil, € 39.00 via Lovely Day

Lovely Day Botanicals is a skincare brand founded in Berlin whose products include nourishing combinations of plant-based, safe ingredients produced in a laboratory.

Their cute, eco-friendly packaging makes you want to decorate your entire bathroom with their product line. The Skin Rescue Oil with blue tansy and evening primrose is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, offering relief for blemishes and irritated skin and replenishing reserves at the same time. The Hyaluron + Bloom Pink Clay Mask is another favorite from their line: hyaluronic acid and raspberry seed oil moisturize en-masse and pink clay (ok, cheating it’s natural, but not a plant extract!) extracts impurities from the skin.
