Review: On the road with Wonderlust

Michael Kors invited Veronika Heilbrunner to Greece for the launch of his new fragrance Wonderlust

If you think about travelling, jet-setting off to amazing places looking effortlessly glamourous, fun, and oh-so-relaxed, Michael Kors is the designer that will come to mind. So, when I got the invitation to travel with him to Greece for the launch of his newest scent, Wonderlust, I was more than excited!

This is already old news for my Snapchat followers, but my journey to paradise began with a standard requisite: a helicopter flew me over remarkable ancient landscapes, beautiful islands, and deep blue seas before setting down at the Amanzoe Resort (close to Porto Heli on the greek Peloponnes) – a venue handpicked by Michael for the event. And when Michael selects a holiday destination, he’s looking for a combination of incredible natural beauty (whether it’s the mountains for the beach), water, and design that exudes a sense of relaxed elegance.

The pictures I took kind of speak for themselves. Now every time I smell this scent, I’ll be back at the launch event, wandering to my luxe cabin with the emerald green pool, thinking of the fun we had on Hydra, and dancing late at night with the salty breeze coming up from the sea and into the mountains. Like putting on sparkly nail polish when you’re really tan and just wearing a crochet dress and carrying a straw basket bag – it feels like exactly the right amount of luxe.

Another thing Michael told me that I’m going to try myself: watching movies about the places you are at while you are there, not before or after. It’s quite a magical idea. One of his favorite moments was watching The Talented Mr. Ripley when it had just come out while on vacation in Positano. With the windows open, he could hear the church bells ringing while the movie was on. Maybe it also had to do with the fact that he had just met Gwyneth and was totally in love with her…that could be a little trickier for me to realize.

But nevertheless, there is also a very down-to-earth and practical side: no matter where he is headed, all he needs are his aviator sunglasses, white jeans, and black t-shirt. Oh, I wish my packing could be that simple!
