Veronika Heilbrunner and Michael Kors worked together for the new campaign “The Walk”
If you ask me how I get things done – managing a glam (aka the hard work it takes to make it look like that ) but intense fashion schedule, and surviving with my body AND mind in shape – the answer couldn’t be simpler: I walk!
No matter where I am, my fashion choices are never a coincidence: there’s no stopping with sneakers and my bag has to keep up. The Mercer Bag by MICHAEL Michael Kors has got space for everything I need, from my extra phone batteries, to rose water when in New York, cinnamon buns (and not just one!) when in Stockholm, all the way to my lip balm. And especially when I’m in my Berlin office look – that consists of a comfy hoodie and my favorite pair of jeans – the Mercer adds just the right amount of put-together elegance.
So one Sunday when I was out walking for pure joy, I strolled from Charlottenburg (where I live) over to Schöneberg and almost into Kreuzberg where I came across this amazing architecture housing project called Am Lokdepot. I had heard about it from our beauty contributor Stella von Senger, who lives there.

The next thing I knew, someone was screaming my name. It was Miriam Stein, my former colleague and the Senior Features Editor at Harper’s Bazaar Germany. She was enjoying the scenery with friends from her balcony in the building, thought she was seeing a fata morgana, but then realized it was actually me and invited me in to see the inside.
She must have noticed how much I was enjoying the tour – maybe my constantly dropped jaw gave me away – because she offered to also show me the roof terrace apartment, which is owned by their friends who happen to be the architects of this award winning place (more info here).
Needless to say, all I could think of is how do I get an apartment in this amazing house or – even better – shoot a very special story with those cool views.
Enjoy the many colors of the Mercer and this very special look into Am Lokdepot. “The Walk” was shot by our favorite photographer, Rasmus Weng Karlsen, and his talented assistant Nikolaj Thaning Rentzmann, who filmed behind the scenes. Hair and makeup by our hey woman! beauty contributor Stella von Senger, and multi-talent Oriane Baud assisted and did the final artworks.
