Beauty is all about imperfection and diversity. And no city reflects that better than Berlin. I’ve been living here for two years now, so of course I am still discovering. At first I fell in love with the nature and stately monuments around Tiergarten, but eventually the messy and modern look of a construction site with Berlin´s famous pink evening skies as a background swept me off my feet, too. It is a city of true contrasts: from colorful graffitis in Kreuzberg, to teenage scribbles on walls of Charlottenburg. And the brutalist modern architecture by the likes of Eiermann, Gropius, Aalto or Jacobsen is just as appealing as the sight of a Nouveau Art mansion on a rainy grey day.
With my favorite pieces from the Gucci Spring/Summer collection we explored the many faces of Berlin. And by ‘we’ I mean danish photographer Rasmus Weng Karlsen and our wonderful team. Karlsen who is fascinated by the grittier, louder side of the city and loves telling a story with speed and movement, was supported by his assistant Nikolaj: a true expert for atmospheric settings – have a look yourself. Also on board: our very own multitalent Julia Zierer, to film behind the scenes and the newly joined Oriane Baud with a great eye for details and the right moment.
Cover Look: I love to wear the men’s suit with flared trousers in the morning for breakfast (my favorite spot near Kottbusser Tor is Le Bon). It feels like sporting a chic pajama. I combine it with the GG loafer mules and the light blue silk blouse and I am fit for meetings.
Surprise! My “flat” times are a thing of the past. And if you’re going for heels, then do it properly! The balance is just perfect with the snake print silk dress, the big “GG Marmont” and the raffia beret.
It never gets quiet around Bahnhof Zoo. Day and night, there are masses of people hurrying by the never-ending construction sites. Nonetheless the shapes and colors of the skyscapers sometimes look like a relict from the 70’s. The flared jeans from the men’s collection combined with the lace blouse radiate a similar charme – a bit of nostalgia in the Here and Now.
The journey to the past goes on underground in the metro station. The colors and patterns represent the capital as well as “The Fernsehturm”.
The GG Marmont handbag is my faithful companion through the city, seen here in black with a green lace dress. I also like the break from brown leather with the light blue men’s shirt under the flowered suit above.
Where else do you find photo booths? Of course I wear the silk dress with fingerless crochet gloves for the special occasion.
After the green breakfast bowl at Kaffeebar in Kreuzberg we head back to Charlottenburg. The lace dress with tracksuit details merges the look of West and East Berlin.
Mick Jagger, Al Bundy, Clint Eastwood – when looking at this snapshot an infinite number of images flash through my head. I’m wearing the lace shirt and flared jeans from the men’s collection with the GG belt and of course, as many rings as possible.
