Editor’s Pick: The Blue Cocoon – Beauty Balm Concentrate by May Lindstrom

Love at first sight! The magical blue wonder for eyes, lips and irritated skin

Love at first sight – and you can talk as much about inner values as you want – for me it works just like the saying suggests: it’s about what I see. At least when it comes to beauty love. First and foremost, a product appeals to me because of its pretty packaging. Then, because the name makes me curious. And afterwards, we get to know each other a bit better, the content reveals to me and I find out whether we are really made for each other: the cream, the mascara or the shampoo and I.

Just recently I was lovestruck again: in the form of a beautiful shiny black pot with a golden dandelion print on the cover. At the sight, I felt an instant urge to possess it. Obviously, love at first sight! The fact that a name like “The Blue Cocoon” made me curious is pretty much self explanatory. And the outside is nothing compared to the content: a cream in soft blue, which reminds me of the magnificent Blausee (which literally means “Blue Lake”) in the Swiss mountains.

It shall care for the delicate eye area and the lips, but can do so much more! When applied and massaged onto clean wet skin,  the concentrate soothes dry and irritated areas and smoothes them. The consistency reminds me of coconut oil and turns liquid as well, when it comes into contact with skin. When dabbed onto the lids, it provides a fresh glow. When applied to tired eyes, on temples or on the neck, the balm, enriched with extracts of lavender, blue tansy, geranium and camellia, acts just like an aromatherapy: calming and stress reducing. And the massage creates a little heat that dissolves tension.

Those who aren’t convinced yet, should take a closer look at May Lindstrom’s beautiful website. The former model started out by mixing cosmetics in her kitchen – always with the aim in mind to provide a little joy to others. And you believe her. She looks so kind and warm hearted, that I’d like to visit her in her LA-based herb garden.

All in all: it is about more than cosmetics. In fact, it’s about taking care and taking time for your skin with home made and entirely organic cosmetics. I take time for my new love “The Blue Cocoon” and in return I get beautiful and healthy skin.
