There’s this thing with sunglasses and perfumes: the first I generally use for years until I just can’t bear their sight anymore and the second I don’t use at all. For decorative reasons, there is a bottle of the special edition M/Mink in my bathroom, which I only bought for the foldable poster by the eponymous design studios in Paris that came with it. Also I was curious how the fragrance was supposed to smell like tattoo ink – it does. It’s crazy how marketing works in this form.
Worth mentioning here is the most recent collaboration between Byredo and Oliver Peoples. My favorites are the models with the black frame. Attentive readers will notice that the shade of the glasses match with the flacons (indigo (so LA) champagne (so us) and green). The fragrance inside the flacons is – surprise – created to match those. The founders of the two brands, Ben Gorham (Byredo) and David Schulte (Oliver Peoples) named this connection between senses “Synthesia”. We find this very plausible.
The Launch event will take place May 5th in Paris at Colette, pre-order is available online.
