Playing cowboys and Indians as a child, who wouldn’t want to be the smart and smooth Indian that doesn’t know any pain? I had various reasons for it, starting with the spotted horse that you ride with no saddle and guide with your sheer will power. This could explain my moccasin (fringes, suede leather, ikat embroidery and feather) obsession. Of course I have the classic, semi-high Minnetoka in my small collection (in 2007 Kate Moss made it’s demand rocket into unimagined heights), the butter soft Miu Miu loafers from summer 2004 and the unfortunately rarely worn – because white!! – but simply dreamlike wedge boots by Isabel Marant from Fall/Winter 2011. No need to explain how fast my heart was beating when this dream pair walked past me at Etro’s Spring/Summer 2015 show! Because they are unagitated flat they make two trends work together: fringes and lacing. I like them best styled with a midi-length jeans skirt.
