This year the Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award was awarded in Madrid, honoring gallery owner Soledad Lorenzo
The Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award is already in its 26th year and the brand selected the Spanish capital of Madrid as the location to kick off this year’s ceremonies. An international jury selected Soledad Lorenzo, who has made substantial contributions as a gallerist by tirelessly supporting artists throughout his long career and giving his own art collection to a museum in order to make it accessible to the public. The Spaniard now joins a long list of renowned award winners including Prince Charles, Renzo Piano, and Yoko Ono.
Since 1991, Montblanc has supported 250 projects worldwide with more than four million euros. A further 16 prize ceremonies are set to take place this year including in Brazil, Germany, Japan, and, for the first time, Bangladesh.
The international press gathered in the breathtakingly beautiful Palacio de Liria and they couldn’t have chosen a better location. The main residence of the Duke of Alba, it contains one of Europe’s most important art collections and is home to paintings by Goya, Dürer, El Greco, Rembrandt, and many others as well as the first edition of Don Quixote and correspondence by Columbus and Rousseau. Guests had the unique opportunity to explore the impressive premises of this history-laden building before the events began — the waiting list for a tour normally is up to three years long.
Dinner took place in the exuberant atmosphere of the glass winter garden with excellent food and a view over the unparalleled gardens of the Palacio, which on this evening was illuminated by hundreds of candles. Till Fellrath and Sam Bardaouil, co-founders of the Montblanc Cultural Foundation, used the opportunity to inform the gathered journalists of the foundation’s achievements and about the survival of cultural heritage.
Guests also had the opportunity during the event to get to know Montblanc Creative Director Zaim Kamal and speak to him about his passions during a short meet and greet.
