Anna Ewers is the face of the new Isabel Marant campaign Fall/Winter 2017
Isabel Marant does everything right. Since founding her own label in 1994, the down-to-earth French woman has been navigating it so confidently, stringently, and successfully that you actually can’t see how it could have been done better. The times in which big luxury brands could believe in an undisputed market share are gone: The designer targeted the mid-price segment and brought (warning: bad word ahead!) boho-chic so likeably, but specifically nevertheless, to a target group that suddenly wanted to have all of the paisley-printed dresses. The pink jeans, the hippy blouses, the winter boots and sneakers with a hidden wedge heel – and let’s not forget the Dicker Boots, which in the meantime have become a classic that is available year after year and lend you an air of French nonchalance as soon as you slip them on.

That tried-and-true works so well, that’s something the new Fall/Winter 2017 campaign also shows. Model Anna Ewers is in front of the camera, like she was last season, photographed by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin and styled by Géraldine Saglio (Vogue Paris). The art direction came from the creative office of Atelier Franck Durand. Daria Birand is to thank for the collages. What’s more, her web presence got a general overhaul: The e-commerce area is expanded, video content will be created, and the journal gives glimpses into the brand. Even the path ahead appears to be anything but an impossible task. Thank you, Madame Marant, for the continual perfection that is presented as so pleasantly organic.
