The Business of Fashion has made its annual selection of the 500 most influential people in the fashion industry – and celebrated with them at the #BoF500 Gala

A glimpse at the guest list is all you need to be sure: The annual gala held by the website The Business of Fashion is one of the fashion industry’s most important events of the year. The event took place in New York for the first time – and right in time for Fashion Week. Only invited guests could take part in the festivities, and this year Selena Gomez and Adwoa Aboah were among them. Both women join Lily-Rose Depp and Kris Wu as the four, individual cover stars of the latest print edition of the The Business of Fashion. The magazine’s theme matched that of the gala: Generation Next, the generation that the future of the fashion industry depends on, both as a provider of ideas and as a consumer.

“Bringing the #BoF500 Gala to New York is a testament to the enduring importance of the American fashion business at a time of unprecedented change in the industry and the wider world,” said Imran Amed, founder and chief executive officer of The Business of Fashion. The event was held at the Ian Schrager Public Hotel in collaboration with the American retail chain Target. The after party was held at Public Arts.

Each year The Business of Fashion publishes a list of 500 people who, in the website’s opinion, have played the most significant role in fashion industry or will continue to shape it in the future. This list is the result of the analysis The Business of Fashion has conducted on the industry over the last five years and is made public online on September 10th, the day after the gala. Among the 99 new names on the list are actress Emma Watson, musician Drake, as well as models Halima Aden, Kaia Gerber, and Hanne Gaby Odiele. Cover stars Selena Gomez, Lily-Rose Depp, and Kris Wu are all also new on the list. Adwoa Aboah had already been included on the #BoF500 last year.
