The Laelia Dress by Self-portrait is the perfect lace dress for summer and the upcoming wedding season. For us, it’s already a classic
“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” That’s what Oscar Wilde once said – and also what the designers behind the Laelia Dress by Self-portrait must have been thinking as the first pieces inspired by the original started showing up in shops. (By the way, I can hardly believe that the label has only been around since 2013.) You could already see that happening last summer, and now it’s merrily carrying on into this one. Always directly sold out at the big vendors, you can still strike it lucky at Selfridges and Shopbop. But what is it about it that makes it such a top seller?
In the colorful variations – a crisp blue, a particular red, or a delicate white/beige – it’s actually THE perfect outfit for a wedding guest, one in which you won’t be stealing the show from the bride but will still be looking enchanting.
So we took a little effort and neatly put together all of the styles available at the moment. One thing is clear: In the second year of the “imitation,” it’s already almost a classic. Isn’t it?
