Black Friday and Cyber Monday can feel overwhelming. Luckily, our fashion editor Madeleine has put together a list of the best bargains out there
Another year has almost come to an end, Christmas is approaching, and the grand finale is just around the corner. But the next few weeks are going to be turbulent – this is the time of year that traditionally rings in Black Friday in the US. One day after Thanksgiving (which is always the fourth Thursday of November), retailers and online merchants open their doors for the biggest discount event of the year. Buyers and sellers alike await the day with impressive anticipation, but the shopping fever might rise a little too high in some places. Each year, hundreds of videos are uploaded on YouTube showing battles for the last pair of shoes, or the last XXL TV. It’s beautiful.
In the US, Black Friday has developed into a shopping phenomenon and become an integral part of the American Christmas tradition. Over the last few years, the event has increasingly spread to Europe. According to German trade magazine Textilwirtschaft, Germany expects an additional turnover of 1.7 billion euros this year. And because it’s so much fun, the shopping frenzy is extended to the weekend and ends with Cyber Monday for many digital retailers. This day was started by online shops and is a pure digital pleasure.
Therefore, taking a quick glance at the shops (online and offline) during this time would be an ingenious plan. After all, thousands of stores are taking part in Black Friday and Cyber Monday – it’s an excellent opportunity to buy your first Christmas gifts, finally fulfill some of your own wishes (“you don’t treat yourself to anything else”…that classic on the cheating front), or replenish your personal stock of favorite products. Fun Fact: Some retailers reduce up to 90%. The search is probably a worthwhile one.
