Designer Tomas Maier launched the TM20 bag to celebrate the brand’s 20th anniversary
Palm trees have always been something special. They already referred to paradise or heaven back in mythology and Christian symbolism. Returning victors were welcomed and accompanied by palm branches. Jesus was also welcomed this way on his arrival in Jerusalem, hence the name of the annual holiday Palm Sunday. Today, we look forward to the sight of palm trees because they carry with them the promise of sweet moments, ones near the sun and the sea. And surely everyone likes that.
Tomas Maier, originally from Pforzheim, founded his eponymous label in 1997. For his logo, he chose a small palm tree. A good choice. Since then, the plant has subtly adorned clothes and accessories. His move to Miami in the late 1990s inspired him. Today, Tomas Maier splits his time between New York, Florida, and Milan and runs an international label with over 100 stores in 30 countries. And things remain exciting: In 2013, Maier signed a partnership with Kering to further expand the label. He has also been head designer at the Italian luxury house Bottega Veneta since 2001.
To celebrate the brand’s 20th birthday, Tomas Maier designed a special piece. Fans of the label can rejoice in a small shoulder bag launched for the occasion – one with which you can also certainly slip on some summer vibes. As of November, the limited-edition TM20 bag can be carried, bought, and loved in dark blue, palm green, and coral.
Happy birthday, Mr. Maier!
