A short work trip, a weekend in another city, spontaneously spending the night away from home: Who wants to be on-the-go with a full cosmetic bag? These situations call for practical little tubes and mini bottles, and above all our latest discoveries: cleansing wipes and masks to-go, that come in practical disposable packaging to fit in the smallest weekend bag or even a clutch.
1. CLEANSE by LAUREN NAPIER
The brand’s founder, Lauren Napier, came up with the idea for her product when she was on a long flight, stuck by the window seat. Cleanse are cleansing wipes for single use. Whether traveling by plane without access to a proper sink or in a strange bathroom, they guarantee a skin care routine, no matter where you are. The wipes are individually packaged in small black bags with water, aloe vera, chamomile and cucumber extract. They not only clean, but simultaneously provide the skin with moisture. One big pack contains 50 wipes. And every night I have to convince myself anew not to use one during my care routine.
2. SHEET MASKS by VERSO
We already know about sheet masks. But the ones from Verso Skincare are new. The Swedish brand, which specializes in care products with a specially patented anti-aging retinol complex, recently added three new sheet masks to their range. These are, like all of the other products from the brand, beautifully packaged (the packaging has been awarded with a Reddot design award). Having this kind of mask is worth its weight in gold when it comes to skincare. The Deep Hydration Mask particularly impressed me. Not long ago in a hotel in Stockholm I put it on my tired face, dry from the flight, and after 20 minutes it looked like I had enjoyed 24 hours of beauty sleep and followed it with a dip in the fountain of youth – no exaggeration. An emulsified hydrogel with hyaluron, grapefruit extract and rapeseed oil makes up the two “sheets” which are placed on the face. An upper part for the area around the eyes and nose and a lower part which is place around the mouth and chin. After 20 minutes on the skin, the sheets are removed, and any remaining product is gently tapped into the skin. I used the time for a short nap. So I felt instantly relaxed and my skin even more so: cooled and refreshed, saturated with moisture and radiant at the same time.
Another travel tip: always keep sample products that you might usually use elsewhere (Verso, Aesop or Susanne Kaufmann offer these in little bags) for your next trip: put the samples in your luggage, use them in your hotel room and return without them – it can’t get any better.
3. HAND REPARING GLOVES by MAGICSTRIPES
Hand cream, nail oil, nail care – you need a few products to make your hands beautiful. When you’re on-the-go, you usually don’t have everything with you. The disposable glove “masks” from Magicstripes fit in even the smallest piece of luggage and ensure that it will look like you just had a manicure – and in no time at all. The gloves soaked with shea butter, vitamin E, vitamin C and olive oil maintain soft hands and healthy nails. Best to massage the hands as you’re wearing the gloves for 20-30 minutes, so that the ingredients are absorbed by your skin. Because they’re a bit crackly, it’s best to only do this when you have the room, or the bed, to yourself.
