Shopping List: Autumn favorites by Ori

Our editor Oriane Baud has put together her fall wish list and is looking forward to layers, layers, and more layers!

October: month of rain, the first cold days, leaves all over the streets, Netflix, and dinner at home.

It is also a great month to play with layers and create interesting outfits!

When the temperatures drop, I have the tendency to go for more simple outfits as well as a more boyish look than I do in summer. In winter, I usually wear moccasins or Chelsea boots paired with large coats, button shirts (but, with a Saint Laurent bow on it please!), and sweaters purchased mostly from men’s department.

I’ve always loved contrasts, and for me it’s a pleasure to mix wool tights, cashmere pullovers, and leather boots with, for instance, a very colorful floral-print skirt. In my opinion, this one by Balenciaga is simply to die for and I really like how Demna Gvasalia plays with forms and exaggerates a woman’s curves in his collections for the brand. This skirt definitely lends a beautiful mermaid figure and because femininity is very important to me when it comes to fashion, I picked this Venus clutch by Olympia Le Tan as little reminder that curves are beautiful and yes, let’s have cake for breakfast! The second bag I chose is a pure velvet beauty by Eddie Borgo. Handbag and shoulder bag in one, I like how practical it is and the fact that it works for both day and night.

White shirts are my thing – I can never have enough of them! From classic men’s ones to lace blouses, but also more unique takes on it like this amazing Valentino ethnic shirt. You might have heard about my weakness for ruffles, and I absolutely cannot imagine my life without a piece from Johanna Ortiz. This top is very summery, but in my opinion it would look amazing on top of a very simple and slim black turtleneck and that’s why I love it/need it! I usually never change my wardrobe between summer and winter. I prefer to mix the pieces together and wear my summer dresses under/over my pullovers.

You can easily get sick from cold feet and that means: closed-in shoes and warm socks! I really like these Fendi derby shoes because they aren’t too classic and have a great combination of colors – I’ve always loved bordeaux and a flashy blue mixed together. When it comes to heels, I definitely have a crush on these Gucci shoes: elegant, simple, but also very cool and trendy at the same time.

There are two options for outerwear: long or short. Both are weather-adaptable, but depend on what you decide to wear underneath. For example, I like to wear a long coat with a skirt and a short one with trousers. For my wish list, I’ve selected two pieces inspired by military looks: a long khaki coat by Marni that is large and boyish but has a belt that gives it a chic silhouette, and a super cool blue and red jacket by Burberry. A must-have piece: so perfect, even just on top of a white shirt, a jeans, and sneakers.

French and Swiss, Oriane moved to Berlin to pursue her interest in all things creative. She loves art and photography and does a lot of yoga, also to balance out her passion for great cuisine - a real foodie so to say. And of course, she is obsessed with fashion, which you can tell from her weakness for peplum cuts and ruffles.
