The slip dress is back and with it, the 90s: See how Veronika Heilbrunner wears it in our new column “Shop the Look”
The 90s dress is definitely an item worth investing in. Whether it’s in flowing silk satin or velvet, the main thing is that it falls loose and wide. Kate Moss has already played with its many facets – from completely see-through to a grungy “just-woke-up” look with the dark red Gazelle sneakers from Adidas, which is also my favorite version. The chic dress works during the day and even on cooler days. Simply wear a slim cut long sleeve shirt or a turtleneck underneath and pair it with sneakers.
My sneaker choice at the moment is Chucks, it doesn’t matter if it’s the high or low-top kind, the main thing is that it’s simple and a bit retro. Although I normally try to avoid bags, or when it’s not possible I prefer very small ones, with a slipdress they can be a bit bulkier to achieve the “LA actress in a nightgown” feel. And, naturally, it works best with a classic bag from Chanel. In this case not just any bag, rather with the exceptional velvet one from the 80s that I found on Vestiaire Collective.
Born and raised in Munich/Germany, Veronika’s professional career has developed from being a model to a fashion editor, to online luxury retailing and most recently style editor of Harpers Bazaar Germany. She currently lives in Berlin where in the beginning of 2015 she started a company with Julia Knolle, the ex-editor at large of Vogue Digital.
Oh, and she loves pugs!
