Shopping: November List

My obsession with the nineties superhit “November Rain” is hard to contain. Axl’s red hair, his American flag underwear, the shirt tied around his hips and the bandanna are more now than ever. And something else: Wouldn’t Wednesday from The Addams Family be better named November? If I let my thoughts continue to wander, I realize that this next to the last month of the year is my absolute favorite. The leaves rustle so wonderfully underfoot when jogging, the sun is still warm but the air is noticeably cooler and fantastically fresh. This means that you can still wear an airy top – like the wonderful velvet one from Rosie Assoulin, if you’re just dressed warmly over and under. Top with the perfect bouclé jacket from Balenciaga with the belt buckle lapel, which is elegant and at the same time relaxed. The shortened corduroy pants from Alexa Chung for AG are in my favorite color, “Dark Rust Forest Foliage,” and are the perfect counterpart to the funky stocking ankle boots with the metal heel from Acne Studios. And the head shouldn’t get cold either (it’s where we lost the most body heat!). To stylishly prevent cooling, I prefer the retro hat by Gucci.

An then there is also the warming view towards the Christmas season. Because in addition to Guns N Roses it also gives me Christmas tree ornament figurines that sparkle, shine and glitter. I like to start to look for these in mid-summer, like at Liberty in London. So it’s no surprise that my Christmas tree is weighed down with a Brit-pop look. My favorite bag from Miu Miu – certainly a one of a kind gem – will be safer in my hands than hanging from a blue fir. One can only hope that it will be found underneath the tree.
