Technically this is not allowed: Adoring a single campaign so much, that the rest of the season immediately falls to the wayside. Let’s just agree to make this a short love affair. It’ll last only this morning, and afterwards we’ll let equality come back once again.
The story goes as follows: Hedi Slimane has been shaking things up ever since he took the reigns as creative mastermind at Saint Laurent. Opinions on his work tend to differ from season to season while he manages to stay wonderfully relevant and commercially very successful. For his menswear Spring 2016 presentation he sent women down the runway (nothing new for sure) and Klara Kristin, who can be seen in Gaspar Noé’s new movie ‘Love‘ come July 15th in France, was one of them.
The inspiration behind Slimane’s 29-strong picture series of the young Dane and Jack Kilmer is said to be found in Californian surf sounds. Which is exactly where they hooked me. How fantastic are these images? White dresses and khaki-colored parkers paired with Doc-Marten-like boots? We’ve seen this before over and over and yet, each and every picture takes my breath away. Every damn one. If you’re in the mood for an accompanying soundtrack, have a listen here. Zen-like childhood memories remind us of ‘The Virgin Suicides’ and a life lived in innocent purity, one that allows days spent at the ocean with no sense of time and in bomber jackets.
